October 9, 2013

New York, NY: The Nouveau Classical Project (NCP), hybrid music ensemble and production hub that is putting “a new face on classical music” (NPR’s ‘Deceptive Cadence’), is proud to announce the First Annual Benefit, to take place at Chambers Fine Art located in Chelsea. The evening will feature a concert of classical and avant-garde music by Arnold Schoenberg and Lewis Nielson, as well as a premiere of a new piece by Leah Asher commissioned by NCP. Musicians’ wardrobe will be provided by 2012 Ecco Domani awardee Titania Inglis.

Thomas Deneuville, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of I CARE IF YOU LISTEN, will be honored with the first NCP Visionary Award. This award recognizes innovative leaders whose work promotes emerging artists and has made a significant impact on the new music community. Since its founding in 2010, ICIYL has become a vital platform for emerging voices in our field. The recently launched I CARE IF YOU LISTEN Magazine is the first Apple Newsstand magazine to focus exclusively on contemporary classical music, tech and the arts.

NCP will also welcome its newest member, Kivie Cahn-Lipman (founding cellist of International Contemporary Ensemble) and perform with him for the first time at this event.

Through their efforts to promote classical music through collaborative projects, NCP creates much needed opportunities for not only musicians and composers, but for emerging artists of various disciplines (visual art, fashion, dance, and more).

SPONSORS: Georgi Premium Vodka will provide delectable cocktails for the evening and Yamaha is providing their hybrid piano, the AvantGrand N3, for the performance.

About The Nouveau Classical Project: The Nouveau Classical Project (NCP) is a hybrid music ensemble and production hub that is putting “a new face on classical music” (NPR’s ‘Deceptive Cadence’). NCP began by collaborating with fashion designers to create music-inspired looks to be worn on musicians and has since expanded to pursuing multidisciplinary projects that go beyond the traditional concert format. They have performed at (le) poisson rouge, Galapagos Art Space, Korea Gallery, Symphony Space, The Center For Fiction, and Issue Project Room as part of MATA’s Interval Series, as well as at the fashion shows of CFDA winner Pamela Love, Project Runway winner Gretchen Jones, and Tanya Taylor. NCP is soprano Amanda Gregory; flutist Laura Cocks; clarinetist Isabel Kim; violinist Marina Kifferstein; cellist Kivie Cahn-Lipman; and Artistic Director and pianist Sugar Vendil.

About Thomas Deneuville, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of I CARE IF YOU LISTEN: Back in the early nineties there was not much to do on weekends for a teenage boy growing up in Tahiti. Thomas Deneuville got bored of skateboarding or picking ripe mangoes and decided to borrow a friend’s electric guitar in order to teach himself the intro riff of AC/DC’s Hells Bells. Two years later he was studying classical violin and music theory at a local music school in his native Provence and composing his first pieces. Thomas’s former teachers include Shafer Mahoney, Eric Tanguy and Tristan Murail (composition), Franco Corelli (voice), and Geoffrey Burleson (piano).
